Where can I study textile engineering?

Globally, the leading programs include Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX), the textile departments at Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology (AUST), Manchester Metropolitan (UK), NC State (USA), IIT Delhi (India), and the Institute of Textile Technology (Germany). Diploma and short-course pathways exist through polytechnics and industry training centers in most manufacturing hubs.

What jobs hire textile engineering graduates?

Production engineer (spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, or garment), quality controller / QA manager, merchandiser, fabric R&D technologist, technical sales, compliance & sustainability, and academic / lecturing roles. The role you specialize in tracks back to which courses you focused on in your final year.

What is OEKO-TEX Standard 100?

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a certification that tests finished textiles for harmful substances at every stage of production — from yarn to finished fabric. Every component (thread, button, zip, print) is tested against the same limit values. Certified products carry an OEKO-TEX label with a unique transaction number buyers can verify.

What’s changing in textile sustainability?

Two major shifts: the EU Strategy for Sustainable Textiles (mandates recycled content, digital product passports, extended producer responsibility by 2030) and the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) programme that brands are pushing down their supply chains. Together they’re reshaping fiber sourcing, chemistry, and end-of-life design.
